BayerCropScience — part of the global Bayer Group, one of the world’s leading life science companies — required a flagship Dhaka office that met the company’s international brand standards while creating an inspiring, productive environment for their Bangladesh team. The result is one of House De Arch’s most acclaimed commercial projects: a workspace that has been cited as a benchmark for multinational office design in Bangladesh.

The Brief
Bayer’s Bangladesh leadership required an office that would achieve three simultaneous objectives: embody Bayer’s global corporate identity (precise colour standards, typography, brand expressions); create a genuinely inspiring working environment that attracts and retains top local talent; and serve as a credible base for interactions with government, industry, and agricultural stakeholders at the highest levels.
The project required close coordination with Bayer’s global real estate and brand teams — ensuring every design decision was aligned with international standards while being practically executable in Bangladesh.
Design Approach
House De Arch’s design team began with an intensive discovery phase — studying Bayer’s global workplace design guidelines, visiting comparable regional offices, and conducting detailed interviews with the Bangladesh leadership team and representative staff groups.
The resulting design concept — “Science Meets Nature” — drew on both Bayer’s agricultural science heritage and Bangladesh’s extraordinary natural environment. The palette combined Bayer’s corporate greens and whites with warm timber tones, natural stone accents, and biophilic elements that brought the natural world into the working environment.
Key Design Features
- Brand immersion from arrival: From the building lobby to the office reception, every touchpoint was designed to communicate Bayer’s brand — signature green, precise use of the Bayer logo, and high-quality material execution throughout
- Collaborative heart: A double-height central atrium — the social and collaborative heart of the office — created a sense of openness and community rarely found in Bangladesh commercial interiors
- Science-inspired meeting suite: A series of meeting rooms named for notable scientific discoveries, each with distinct design characters while sharing a consistent quality language
- Outdoor terrace: A landscaped external terrace — unusual for a Dhaka corporate office — provided an informal meeting and break space that became one of the most popular features of the completed project
- Agricultural heritage wall: A large-format graphic installation celebrating Bayer’s contribution to sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh — a powerful statement of local relevance within a global brand environment
- Technology excellence: Every meeting room equipped with Bayer-standard AV, video conferencing, and digital booking systems — integrated seamlessly into the design from the outset
Delivery and Execution
Delivered under House De Arch’s integrated EPC model, the project ran to programme despite the complexity of meeting Bayer’s global procurement standards within Bangladesh’s supply chain environment. Where local suppliers could not meet Bayer’s specification requirements, we sourced internationally — managing import, customs clearance, and installation within the overall project timeline.
Regular video conferences with Bayer’s global real estate team — weekly during design, bi-weekly during construction — ensured complete transparency and maintained confidence throughout the project.
The Result
The completed BayerCropScience Bangladesh office has been cited by Bayer’s global real estate team as one of the most successful regional office projects executed under the current brand guidelines — achieving the intended balance of global consistency and local authenticity that is notoriously difficult to get right.
Staff feedback since occupation has been uniformly positive: pride in the workplace, improved team cohesion, and a tangible sense that the company values its Bangladesh operation — all of which contribute to the talent attraction and retention objectives that motivated the project.
“Working with House De Arch gave us confidence that our Dhaka office would meet Bayer’s global standards without compromise. The team’s professionalism, attention to detail, and deep understanding of both international requirements and local execution realities made the entire process straightforward. The result speaks for itself.”
